What We Support

Benefitting Rush’s People and Programs

In keeping with Rush’s mission to provide the very best care for its patients, the Rush Associates Board is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for leading-edge patient care initiatives in Rush’s strategic clinical areas (cancer, neurosciences, heart and vascular, and orthopedics), innovative research, and funding for Rush’s network of student-driven community service programs.

All proceeds raised through fiscal year 2013 activities, including the annual Rush Associates Board Casino Night event, will support several key initiatives:

  • A Child Life Services specialist to support pediatric patients and their families in Rush’s emergency department, the Robert R. McCormick Foundation Center for Advanced Emergency Response, to provide emotional support and health education
  • A pediatric oncology camp and respite support for families
  • Volunteers for Rush’s school-based health center at Simpson Academy for Young Women, a West Side high school for pregnant and parenting teens
  • A community health event educating families on healthy lifestyles and cooking choices for ethnic cuisine
  • Innovative research (conducted by Associates Board member Annabelle S. Volgman, MD) using genotyping to help prevent and treat heart disease in women
  • The nation’s first clinical study (conducted by Associates Board member Brian Cole, MD) of a promising new stem cell therapy — Cartistem — to repair knee cartilage damaged by aging, trauma or degenerative diseases
